The Copyright Society of Australia is pleased to offer the Kevin Lindgren Prize for the Best Student Presentation in the field of copyright.

The competition is open to tertiary Institutions students in Australia. The prize will be presented at an event at –

COMPETITION RULES

Prize

 

The winning student will receive the following prize:

  • $2000 in cash;
  • eligibility for publication in the Copyright Reporter; and
  • free membership of the Copyright Society of Australia for

 

Eligibility

 

Entry is open to all enrolled students at any Tertiary Institution in Australia.

 

Entry Conditions

  1. A synopsis of 200 words outlining the subject of the student presentation in an area of copyright of the student’s choice must be submitted in digital form to lindgrenprize@copyright.org.au by 5pm AEST on 17 September 2018. Late entries will not be accepted. The synopsis of the student presentation must relate to copyright and demonstrate a respect for the subject matter.
  2. The synopsis must be the original, unpublished work of a single It may have been prepared for the purposes of course credit.
  3. The synopsis must be accompanied by a separate page, with the student’s name and contact details and a short biography. At the time of submitting the synopsis the student must also provide written confirmation of current Tertiary Institutions enrolment.
  4. Entrants should keep a copy of their submission as no copies will be returned.
  5. The criteria for judging is original thinking, well-reasoned arguments and overall presentation quality.
  6. The judges will select three finalists.
  7. The three selected finalists will be notified by email, post or telephone by 1 October 2018.
  8. Those three finalists will be invited to make a presentation on the subject outlined in their synopsis, to invited practitioners, academics and copyright industry members, at an event to be held at Allens on 23 October 2018 in Sydney.
  9. Each finalist will receive return economy flights from the finalist’s closest Australian metropolitan airport to Sydney, and hotel accommodation in a hotel on the night of the event. The cost of flights and accommodation shall not exceed $1,000 (if the finalist is a resident of greater metropolitan Sydney, travel but no accommodation expenses will be paid). Spending money, meals, additional costs such as travel insurance and any other ancillary costs are the responsibility of each finalist.
  10. If any of the finalists is unable to attend the event, the judging panel may select one or more additional entrants as finalists to take the place of the originally selected finalist who is unable to attend.
  11. There is no limit on the form the presentation takes, but the presentation must take no longer than 10 minutes.
  12. The judges will determine and notify the winner on the night of the event.
  13. The decision of the judging panel is final. Prizes are non-transferable, and the membership component of the prize cannot be redeemed for cash.
  14. The organiser reserves the right to amend or substitute any part of the prize at its discretion without notice to the entrants.

Entry is not available to PhD or TAFE Students
