The Copyright Society of Australia and Ashurst are pleased to invite you to attend the Society’s End of Year celebratory drinks to be held on Ashurst’s rooftop terrace on Tuesday 6 December.
This year we are delighted to announce as our special guest speakers two of the most successful and influential members of the contemporary Australian music industry:
John Watson (manager of Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, Silverchair, Missy Higgins, Gotye and others) and
Bill Cullen (manager of Paul Kelly, Neil Finn, Kate Miller Heidke and Ball Park Music amongst others)
in conversation with Jonathan Carter (Head of Legal, Corporate & Policy at APRA AMCOS).
John and Bill will share their views on the current state of the music and copyright industries as we near the end of 2016; their predictions for 2017; and perhaps even an anecdote or two from their experience working with some of the biggest names in Australian music over the past 20 years.

John Watson is the owner and President of both John Watson Management and the label, Eleven: a music company. Over the last 20 years every single artist on the JWM and Eleven rosters has enjoyed either gold or multi-platinum success and the companies have helped four separate artists achieve gold certifications in the USA.
Currently manages or co-manages: Birds of Tokyo, Cold Chisel, Daniel Johns, Dustin Tebbutt, Gotye, Midnight Oil, Missy Higgins, Paul Mac, Peter Garrett, The Presets, Silverchair. Also previously managed Wolfmother and Pete Murray.
Bill is the managing director and founder of One Louder Entertainment which has since had gold and platinum plus success with most of their current artists, as well as with Alex Lloyd, George and Amiel. He is also a Director of the PPCA, an APRA ambassador and a founding director of the Association of Artist Managers.
Currently manages: Ball Park Music, Kim Churchill, Neil Finn, Paul Kelly, Kate Miller Heidke. Also booking Agent for Kev Carmody.
Jonathan is Head of Legal, Corporate & Policy at APRA AMCOS, the peak industry body for songwriters and music publishers in Australia and New Zealand. He has also worked at record labels EMI and Sony Music and prior to that was a solicitor in the intellectual property group at Allens. Jonathan is currently President of the Copyright Society of Australia.
